At a time when things can seem grim and challenging, it’s so important to focus on the parts of our lives where great people and activities continue to improve the world around us. One of these amazing organizations is the Monadnock United Way (MUW). All through lockdowns and the many disruptions caused by the current challenges, MUW continues to do inspiring work for people in our community. We’re so proud to partner with them, in fact our relationship started years ago when Joe Marks, our founder, initiated the  StartSmart program which provides children’s books to new parents. The many faces behind Baudelaire even helped to assemble these incredible boxes for local families.

Investing in community, tradition, and quality are all key themes of the Baudelaire ethos and nothing embodies them more than giving back to one’s own local community. Joe’s dedication to preserving and promoting the idea of community continues to be one of the driving factors behind our beloved brand.

The work that MUW is doing in New Hampshire is too vast and important to fit into one little blurb. So, we won’t try. Instead, we’ll be rolling out a series of different posts over the coming year on a whole host of topics that demonstrate different ways we can all get involved in our community. To kick things off it seemed prudent to provide a bit more information about MUW and how they support the neighborhood.

An integral part of the wider United Way organization for over 65 years, the Monadnock chapter focuses on the needs of local children, promoting education, and teaching financial stability. Often influencing each other, these three pillars are essential to building a strong foundation that will last a lifetime.

Reaching across private, public, and nonprofit sectors MUW has been able to raise over $1,300,000 for local families in need in 2020! During such an unexpected crisis as the one we face, the tireless efforts of MUW volunteers continue to make grand ripples through the community.

COVID-19 is still front-of-mind for all of us as it continues to upset our way of life. The fatigue and isolation associated with social distancing can be difficult to mitigate. Although we’re all anxious for normal, in whatever shape that will soon take, if you have the capacity to give back to your local community then there are creative ways to offer your support and get involved with other like-minded individuals. We encourage you to check out their various social media channels to see what is going on in your area and how you can get involved – from a safe distance of course.
